Russian-born violinist Vadim Repin will join the China Philharmonic Orchestra for a performance for the first time in Beijing.

Repin, 40, won the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition at 11, spending his prize money on his first-ever shopping trip.

He began his recording career at 14, and came under the wings of violin legend Yehudi Menuhin, who taught him the great concertos.

The performance conducted by Lin Daye will include Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D and Symphony No 4 in F Minor.

7:30 pm, March 25. Forbidden City Concert Hall in Zhongshan Park, Northwest of Tian'anmen Square. 010-6559-8285
